IG Culture’s Zen Badizm Workshop

picture-2

IG Culture’s Zen Badizm Workshop is a dynamic arkestra with fusions of soul, hip hop, jazz and bruk-funk. The band, led by London’s funk chameleon IG Culture, was born out of the ground-breaking concept album Zen Badizm released on Tokyo’s Freedom School label in 2008.

The album featured the likes of Pino Paladino, Heidi Vogel, Corey Wilkes, John Robinson, K Banger, Fareed Haque, Ernest Kabeer Dawkins, and Dee Dee Alexander.

In July 2009, the Zen Badizm Workshop was invited by Jazz Mix to perform at Jazz a Vienne in Lyon France, and put on an excellent display of London fusion at it’s peak. The line up features long time collaborators Kaidi Tatham, Eric Appapouley and Heidi Vogel. Another singer featured is the young female gunslinger Fatima Bramme Sey. Drummers include Martyn Cain and Richard Spaven. Akwesi Mensah’s bass supremacy completes a powerful line up that looks forward to shows and festivals in 2010.
